redirections and relocations

TL;DR: I’m diving full force into voice acting, am still actively pursuing Film/TV work, and am stepping back from theatre for some time with few exceptions.

The Full Post: Well, let’s get straight to it: This is my first post since pre-COVID times. I’ll be honest, during quarantine, I let this website go down and questioned if I would ever bring it back up. As I type this, I’m really happy I did, in fact, bring it back.

I, as well as I’m sure many others, went through a harsh period of self-reflection. I questioned a lot of who I am and what it is exactly I do and want to do. To be honest, I’m still asking a lot of those questions. One I answered, however, was that I felt most at home and most useful as a storyteller. Maybe it’s because it’s all I’ve known, maybe it’s because it’s what I’ve trained to do, or maybe it’s the classic answer of “I was born to do this.” I don’t know, all I know is I’m rediscovering what it is about performing that makes me feel the most me.

In that rediscovery, my friend Ryan Negrón helped me find a path in voiceover, and now I’m smiling each time I get in my home studio. While we’re here, go to these two links to check out my Animation/Character Demo and my Commercial Demo, both completely written, recorded, and produced by yours truly (I promise they don’t sound DIY and amateur lol, I’m actually a big fan of some of the sound designs in there). I’ll definitely be putting the majority of my time into this aspect of the craft, but I’m still actively pursuing some TV/Film gigs as well! I’ve actually got a project that filmed back in January 2021 that should be coming out sometime soon. I can’t say much about that, but I am legitimately so pumped to share it with everyone.

Well, that’s all for me for— oH NO WAIT! I also moved! My time at Playhouse on the Square came to an end, so my partner and I packed our bags, grabbed our pets (dogs: Poor and Dakin, cat: Minnie), and headed up north. We are now Chicago residents, which is awesome!— me for now. I’ll be back when there’s more to tell.

Until Then,

Donald Sutton
